Mrs. Lillian Ayers Davis, devoted servant of her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, and devoted and loving wife and mother, died June 23, 1995. She was an active member of the Emmaus Baptist Church. She had been a resident of the peninsula for 33 years. She was born in the Red Oak Community, Nash County, N.C., on September 20, 1940. She was the daughter of Mrs. Nellie Suits Ayers, who survives, and the late Mr. J.V. Ayers. She was preceded in death by her brothers Donald V. Ayers and Kenneth L. Ayers.
Other survivors include her husband of 35 years, Dr. John G. Davis Jr.; a daughter, Dr. Debra A. Davis and son-in-law, Dr. Ignacio Ripol, who reside in Virginia Beach; a son John G. Davis III and daughter-in-law, DeAnna R. Davis, who reside in Knoxville, Tennessee; and a grandson, Christopher Davis Schwenk of Virginia Beach.
Memorials in her name may be presented to Emmaus Baptist Church, or organizations that conduct research on the prevention of strokes. The family will receive friends at the Claytor Rollins Funeral Home between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted at the Emmaus Baptist Church by the Pastor, Dr. Irvin Acree, at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. Memorial donations may be made to the Mary Immaculate Dialysis Center.
