The Republicans remind me of a man who will start a fire in a building, then with much false bravado extinguish the flame, hopefully making himself out to be a hero.
In 12 years, with Republican Reagan or Bush at the helm, they managed to raise the national debt from $1 trillion to $4 trillion. Now, with much fanfare and ballyhoo, they are making a big show of trying to reduce the debt to the level it was when Democrat Jimmy Carter left the White House.
I wish them well. However, it is a pity they didn't put out the flame when it was a small bush fire instead of waiting until it was a roaring inferno.
