Stuart Albert Neale, 72, of the 3600 block of Ferry Road, died Sunday, June 25, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. Neale was a native of Richmond. He had retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Moon Engineering as a machinist. He had also retired from Virginia Army National Guard after 31 years.
He was a member of Beachgrove United Methodist Church, Driver; past governor of Portsmouth Moose Lodge 898 and Fellow of the Order and was a Booster member. He was a member of Western Branch Masonic Lodge 189, Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Shrine Temple and Suffolk Shrine Club. He was a past member of Bennetts Creek Ruritan Club and a past member of the Churchland Lions Club, D.A.V. Chapter 22, Portsmouth. He was also a past member of the Virginia State Defense Force and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Edith M. Neale; two daughters, Joyce Y. and her husband, Bobby Hare of Portsmouth, and Gloria J. Linderose of Portsmouth; a sister, Mildred R. Peters of Newport News; a sister-in-law, Carpathia and her husband, Peter Sococo of Chesapeake; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one grandson-in-law; and two nieces.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, by the Rev. Garland Hines. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
