Cargill Inc. is one of the largest privately owned businesses in the
world. Its Chesapeake branch is located off Barnes Road on the
Elizabeth River. Barges such as the one in the foreground of this
scene carry grain products to be unloaded by vacuum, weighed,
cleaned, dried and stored so ships like the Lucky Trader can
transport the product to all parts of the world. The company has
been around for 130 years and is a definitely a plus for our city.
