Richard Edward ``Shorty'' Pendleton, 78, of the 1700 block of Nixonton Road, died Wednesday, June 28, 1995, at Albemarle Hospital.
He was a native of Pasquotank County, a retired farmer and grocery store owner and operator. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church, a charter member of Weeksville Lions Club and a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Pendleton was the son of the late John E. and Annie Keaton Pendleton and the widower of Freda Britt Pendleton.
Survivors include a daughter, Melinda Anne Pendleton of New Orleans, and two sons, Edward Charles Pendleton of Winchester, Va., and Benjamin George Pendleton of Chesapeake; one sister, Annie P. Lowry of Elizabeth City; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today in Twiford Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Steve Formo, Pastor. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their residence. His graduating class of 1934 will sit in a group. Memorial gifts may be made to the Weeksville Lions Club or the Union United Methodist Church.
