LORRIMER E. OWENS JR.

Lorrimer Edward ``Lum'' Owens Jr., 65, of the 200 block of Britwell Drive, died Thursday, June 29, 1995, at his home.

Mr. Owens was born in Norfolk and was the son of the late Lillie Mae Roberson Owens and Lorrimer Edward Owens Sr. He retired as a Major from the U.S Air Force in 1972 and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He taught R.O.T.C. in the Chesapeake Public Schools from 1972 to 1978 and then served as administrator at the Chesapeake Health Department and assistant administrator at the Portsmouth Health Department.

He was a member of Great Bridge United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Retired Officers Association, Military Order of the World Wars and the Heart and Sole Mall Walkers.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Wright Owens; his three daughters, Laura Bramer of Dearborn, Mich., Rebecca Eure of Chesapeake and Tammy Schoenhardt of Fredericksburg, Va.; his son, John Owens of Chesapeake; his sister, Amelia ``Kim'' Leonard of Norfolk; his stepmother, Winifred Owens of Norfolk; and eight grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, 1995, at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Robert Hastings. The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Great Bridge United Methodist Church.
