A 23-year-old Norfolk man has been charged in a shaken-baby case involving his girlfriend's 6-month-old son, police said Thursday.
Andrew K. Berry, who sometimes lives with his girlfriend and her baby in the 300 block of W. 27th St., was baby-sitting the child June 13, police said.
Berry took the baby to Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters when it began to have seizures, he told police.
The baby was admitted to the hospital that day and diagnosed with shaken-baby syndrome, police said.
The hospital called Child Protection Services, which notified police. Police suspected Berry of child abuse and arrested him at his girlfriend's home at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The baby was released to his mother sometime last week, police said.
