POLICE: STUDENT KILLED IN CAR VICTIME APPARENTLY LEFT BEACH CLUB WILLINGLY

Georgia college student Jennifer Lea Evans was killed while in the car of a Navy SEAL candidate shortly after leaving The Bayou nightclub, according to a search warrant affidavit filed Friday.

Evans, 21, apparently left willingly with Dustin Allen Turner, 20, whom she had met hours earlier, the document says.

Turner and Billy Joe Brown Jr., 23, are charged with slaying Evans. The men are roommates assigned to SEAL Team 4 in Little Creek.

The accused men wanted sex, the affidavit says. Both men are married.

The affidavit is the first official police document made public since Evans' disappearance June 19. On that day, the affidavit says, Evans was seen leaving the nightclub hand-in-hand with Turner. She wasn't seen again. Her body was found in Newport News Park Tuesday.

According to police and the affidavit, this is what happened June 19:

Evans and Turner spent the evening together at the nightclub. Shortly before closing, Turner asked a friend for a condom, telling the friend he was going to have sex.

Although Evans' friends planned to pick her up at the club at 2 a.m., she left with Turner around 1:30 a.m. They walked to Turner's Geo sports car in the Radisson parking lot.

Brown, who witnesses said was intoxicated, was also looking for sex. He approached a former girlfriend, but she turned him down. He ran to catch up with Turner for a ride home.

The three left together in Turner's car.

The affidavit does not say who allegedly killed Evans, although both men admitted to Detective John Orr they were in the car when the homicide and sexual assault happened. Police sources said Brown strangled Evans.

The men drove west on Interstate 64 and dumped Evans' body in Newport News Park.

The two Navy men have been charged with abduction, sexual assault and murder. Abduction is a charge that can be lodged when one person prevents the free movement of another.

Turner and Brown are being held in the city jail. Bond hearings are scheduled Wednesday.

Evans' funeral was to be held today in Tucker, Ga., her hometown. ILLUSTRATION: Color photos
