``Survey shows valedictorians not `classic nerds''' (MetroNews, June 18) debases intellectual achievement.
One might expect an article on area valedictorians to show some interest in the quality of their minds. But these students are made to seem remarkably banal.
Nothing is said of intellectual curiosity (no doubt that's for ``nerds''). These valedictorians appear to care only for ``success.'' And the ``recipe'' for success, according to the article, is ``4 cups procrastination, 2 cups'' TV, ``and a dash of a good book or two.''
Who believes this?
Surely there is more to these students than met the eye of your reporter.
