L. BROOKS HOUTCHINGS

Leon Brooks Houtchings, 70, of Bolling Road, died Saturday, July 1, 1995, in Portsmouth.

He was a native of Fayetteville, N.C. He was a retired steel shelving cutter for Inner Space Systems and was also retired from Pabst Blue Ribbon. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Winnie Ruth Houtchings; step-daughter, Peggy Jane Todd of Portsmouth; son, Michael D. Houtchings of Siler City, N.C.; two sisters, Girlene McGill of Asheboro, N.C., and Evelyn Thomas of Wilmington, N.C.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, July 5, 1995, at 11 a.m. in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. G.W. Harley. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel in charge. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the SPCA.
