JAMES G. BENNETT

James Gordon Bennett, 81, of the 300 block of Daffodil Lane, died Tuesday, July 4, 1995, in his residence.

He was born in Eastman, Ga., and was the son of the late Columbus L. and Annie Futch Bennett and husband of Laura Lee Morgan Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a retired nurseryman with Greenbrier Farms Inc. He was a member of Greenbrier Baptist Church, South Norfolk Masonic Lodge (NU)339, Great Bridge Royal Arch Chapter (NU)82; a past patron of Friendship Chapter (NU)57 Order of the Eastern Star and past associate guardian of Jobs Daughters, Bethel Chapter (NU)37, Great Bridge.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Joyce Ann Bennett Cooper of Allentown, Pa., Rebecca Lee Bennett Aydlett of Elmhurst, Ill., and Susan Morgan Bennett Deaver of Chesapeake; one son, Larry Thomas Bennett of Stone Mountain, Ga.; two brothers, C.L. Bennett of Hampton and Jennings W. Bennett of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, by the Rev. Mitchell Harrison. Interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The family requests that memorials be made to either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Fund.
