Bob Harvey of Virginia Beach started making barrels nine years ago

after he retired from the Army. During an Independence Day

celebration at Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest in Forest, Va.,

Harvey demonstrated the craft of coopering. About 3,000 visitors

were expected to visit Jefferson's Bedford County retreat during the

daylong celebration Tuesday.
