Two area schools were winners of the recent 1995 Nationwide Insurance Prom Promise Program. In Division B, Southampton High School was the recipient of $750. In Division C, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy was awarded $500.
Nationwide Insurance sponsors Prom Promise to involve teens in providing solutions to the problem of alcohol and drug use. Alcohol-related crashes are among the leading causes of teen deaths.
Schools are judged on two criteria: the percentage of students who sign the pledge to remain alcohol and drug free on prom night and points received for their scrapbook of Prom Promise events. Nearly 150 Virginia schools participated in the program. by CNB
