Melvin R. Lewis, 71, of the 1800 block of Princeton Ave., a retired master jeweler, died July 3, 1995, in Norfolk.
Mr. Lewis was born in Princess Anne County, Va., and retired five years ago from Ben Cooper Jewelers after 45 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church Campostella and its Trustee Board and Improved Lodge (NU)192, AF & AM.
Survivors include his wife, Delma J. Lewis; a daughter, Deborah Lewis of Norfolk; a brother, George Lewis of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in First Baptist Church Campostella by the Rev. Harold Cason. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in Pretlow's Funeral Home and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 1808 Princeton Ave., Norfolk, at 11:15 a.m. for the processional to the church.
