JOSEPH BARRALE

Joseph Barrale, 71, died July 4, 1995, at a local hospital.

He was a retired petty officer first class of 22 years for the U.S. Navy and was also a shop foreman for A and B Uniforms for 19 years.

Mr. Barrale was born in New York City and was the widower of Rachel Barrale. He comes from a Pentecostal background and was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association-Branch (NU)60, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II having served on the U.S.S. Birmingham in the South Pacific. He also was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was proud to serve in the military and did so with honors for excellence in carrying out his duties.

He is survived by one daughter, JoAnne McDonald of Montgomery, Ill.; two sons, Ronald Barrale of Norfolk, and Keith Barrale of Chesapeake; three brothers, Ben Barrale, John Barrale, and Abe Barrale, all of New York; and three grandchildren, Annette McDonald and Sarah McDonald, both of Montgomery, Ill., and Daniel Barrale of Chesapeake.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel In The Woods-NAS. The place of burial is Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral today and Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, or the Fleet Reserve Association. Military honors will be accorded at the gravesite.
