MARGARET VIRGINIA THAYER

Margaret Virginia Thayer, 84, of the 5300 block of Ashby St., went to be with the Lord and her late husband, E. Howard Thayer, on Thursday, July 6, 1995.

Mrs. Thayer was retired from Smith & Welton Department Store in Norfolk and had served as a volunteer at Sentara Leigh Hospital. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church over 62 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis and her husband, Ray Holland of Virginia Beach; a son, David and his wife, Carol Thayer of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Jerri L. Kemp and Dusty Thayer, both of Chesapeake, Lewis M. Holland of Salem, Va.; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted Saturday, July 8, 1995 in Knox Presbyterian Church, 37th and Colonial, at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Dave Humpries. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence of Ray and Phyllis Holland, 336 S. Newtown Road.
