A police car chasing the driver of a stolen car at up to 80 mph collided with another vehicle at an intersection, killing a 9-year-old girl and injuring six people.
The police car's emergency lights and siren were on at the time of the collision Thursday night, police said.
The girl, Shannon Incorvaia, and her two siblings were riding with their aunt and an infant cousin.
It wasn't immediately known whether the 21-year-old aunt, Sara Incorvaia, heard the cruiser's sirens or saw its lights, or whether she had the green light.
Sara Incorvaia, Shannon's 8-year-old sister, Rena, and her 6-year-old brother, Chris, were hospitalized in fair condition. Sara Incorvaia's 10-month-old daughter, Allison, and the two officers in the cruiser were treated and released.
The officers had chased the stolen vehicle over about 10 miles for 15 minutes. Other officers took up the chase after the crash and finally stopped Mark Macek, 37, of Oregon. No charges had been filed against him by Friday.
Bert Hamrick, 31, of Toledo was a passenger in the stolen car. He was arrested Friday on an outstanding grand theft auto warrant unrelated to the accident.
