BROTHER ACCUSED OF STABBING BROTHER

A joke between brothers turned deadly Thursday night when the older brother stabbed the younger one, police said.

David James White, 43, of the 1800 block of Cypress Chapel Road, died of a chest wound, police spokesman Mike Simpkins said.

Jimmy Lee White, 45, was charged with murder and using a knife in a felony. He is being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

Police said the stabbing occurred shortly before 10 p.m., when a joking conversation turned violent. Police dispatchers received a call about a domestic argument between the two brothers about 9:53 p.m., but the caller hung up before the dispatcher could determine what was happening. A second call said a person had been stabbed.
