CHARLES PEETE BLASTS OLIVE BRANCH IN SENIOR OPENER

Anthony White slammed a bases-loaded double in the third inning to power Charles Peete to a 13-3 opening victory over Olive Branch in the Senior Little League, highlighting the start of the District 6 Little League all-star tournaments.

Lewis Taylor also drove in three runs for Charles Peete.

Winning pitcher Ryant Carr, Dontario Staton and Antoine Brandon had two hits each. Carr struck out nine and limited Olive Branch to five hits.

Charles Peete also moved into the finals of the Junior Little League tourney with victories over Olive Branch and Wilson. Willie Cuffee pitched six innings of shutout ball as Charles Peete downed Olive Branch, 5-1. Shelton Porter drove in three runs with two singles for the victors.

Olive Branch advanced through the losers bracket by downing Cradock and Wilson and must win two games from unbeaten Charles Peete to claim the title. A single victory will give Charles Peete the crown. Olive Branch knocked out Wilson Wednesday night, 15-3.

In the Major Little League, Cradock opened with an 8-4 victory over Olive Branch Blue; Churchland blanked Cavalier Manor, 3-0; Charles Peete shut out Bennetts Creek American, 2-0; and Wilson topped Bennetts Creek National.

Cavalier Manor ousted Olive Branch Blue and Olive Branch Gold eliminated Bennetts Creek National. Bennetts Creek American then dropped Cavalier Manor from the double-elimination meet.

In the winners bracket, Churchland downed Charles Peete to gain the finals in that bracket. Wilson moved into the winners bracket final with Churchland by defeating Cradock Wednesday, 2-1.

In the losers bracket Wednesday, Charles Peete eliminated Olive Branch Gold, 1-0, and will face the winner of the Cradock-Bennetts Creek American game.

Charles Peete advanced to the finals of the winners bracket in the Senior tournament by besting Wilson, 5-2, Wednesday. Earlier, Wilson beat Cradock and Charles Peete followed its win over Olive Branch with a victory over Cavalier Manor.

Cradock was eliminated by Olive Branch with its second loss. Wilson was scheduled to meet the Olive Branch-Cavalier Manor winner for the finals berth against Charles Peete.

In the 9-10 baseball tournament, Charles Peete was the first team to be eliminated with losses to Bennetts Creek National and Churchland. Cavalier Manor, an opening loser to Olive Branch Gold, then was eliminated with a loss to Cradock.

Bennetts Creek National became the first winners bracket finalist with a win over Wilson. Wilson had advanced with an opening win over Olive Branch Blue.

Olive Branch Gold beat Churchland and Cavalier Manor before bowing to Bennetts Creek American. The two Bennetts Creek teams reached the finals of the winners bracket.

In the losers bracket, Churchland eliminated Charles Peete, 10-3. Cradock ousted Cavalier Manor. Wilson then eliminated Cradock, 6-2, Wednesday.

In Major Little League Softball, Bennetts Creek and Western Branch moved into the finals of the winners bracket. Bennetts Creek opened with a win over Cavalier Manor and followed with an 8-7 victory over Wilson.

Western Branch defeated Olive Branch after the Branchers had walloped Cradock, 35-2. In Olive Branch's opening win, Michelle Renfrow hit a home run and a 3-run triple and Erica Brown had a two-run homer and a double. Kate Miltier hurled the win. Olive Branch racked up 12 runs in the first inning and 15 in the second.

In Senior Little League Softball, Olive Branch became the first finalist. Olive Branch topped Western Branch, 8-7, and Bennetts Creek, 11-2, and awaits the winner of the losers bracket in the final.

Bennetts Creek defeated Wilson and Churchland, 8-6, before suffering its loss to Olive Branch.

In other first-round games Western Branch downed Cavalier Manor and Churchland won over Cradock.

In losers bracket games, Wilson eliminated Cradock, Churchland ousted Cavalier Manor and Western Branch beat Wilson.

In the 9-10 softball tourney, Bennetts Creek defeated Cradock and Western Branch whipped Wilson. Bennetts Creek then advanced with a 5-4 win over Olive Branch and moved to the final with a 9-8 win over Western Branch.
