CRIME LINE

Local police are asking the public's assistance in solving these cases:

CHESAPEAKE

About 5:30 a.m. on June 28, a lone gunman entered the McDonald's Restaurant in the 3200 block of Western Branch Blvd. through a back door. He was wearing a mask and brandishing a single-barrel shotgun.

The robber told the employees to lie on the floor and ordered the manager to open the store safe. After emptying the cash into a plastic trash bag, the suspect ran of the back door and behind a nearby bank.

The suspect is described as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 145 pounds with a thin build and black hair. He was wearing a dark blue shirt, bluish gray shorts and a mask.

The robber spoke with a slight northern accent.

PORTSMOUTH

On Wednesday, May 31, shortly before 11 a.m., James Dildy Jr., 19, also known as ``Bernard,'' was standing with some friends when a man approached, pulled a handgun and began firing.

Dildy was struck several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The gunman is described as black, 18 to 20 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 160 pounds.

Investigators are looking for witnesses who can give details of the incident.

VIRGINIA BEACH

Samuel Anthony Miles, 32, who also uses the names James Williams and Steven Jones, is wanted for armed robbery.

Among the charges against him in Virginia Beach are armed robbery and failure to appear in court. He is wanted in Norfolk for felony larceny.

Most recently, he is suspected of robbing the 7-Eleven store on South Newtown Road on Sunday, June 25.

Miles is considered armed and dangerous.

Miles is described as black, 6 feet 3 inches tall, 160 pounds with short black hair, a mustache and a goatee.

HAMPTON

On Monday, May 8, at 3:40 p.m., three men approached Hauser's Jewelers at 2113-A Coliseum Drive.

One man entered and announced a robbery. Seconds later, the other two entered. Armed with handguns, they smashed a display case and stole 16 Rolex watches.

The robbers are described as black, 17 to 30 years old, all with medium builds and all were wearing dark sweat clothing. by CNB
