Mrs. Maude Woodhouse Owens, 96, of Box 71, Poplar Branch, N.C., died Friday, July 7 at Sentara Nursing Home in Barco. She was a native of Currituck Co., N.C., and a member of Poplar Branch Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Betty Dozier Woodhouse and the widow of Noah Owens.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Griffin and son-in-law, Al of Williamsburg, Va.; a son, Charles W. Owens and daughter-in-law Carolyn of Charlotte, N.C., one grandchild Charlene Owens Sawyer of Charlotte, N.C., and one great-grandchild, Elizabeth Danielle Sawyer also of Charlotte.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 10 at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Grandy, N.C., with the Rev. Herbert Hemingway and the Rev. Lindy Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Baptist Church Fellowship Hall following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Poplar Branch Baptist Church Chimes Fund, POB 247, Grandy, N.C. 27939.
Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St. in Elizabeth City, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.
