The Virginian-Pilot, in serving southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, assumes responsibility for sensitive and informative reporting. Surely the front page warrants more newsworthy treatment than ``Wedding day catches groom by surprise'' (June 26).
Four columns indicating a frivolous attitude toward a process of state law and a historically accepted rite of the church is hardly an appropriate message in an era of 51 percent divorce rate.
I trust the newspaper will be more diligent with its obligation to edify.
