Your staff writer did an excellent job of proving the link between cruelty to animals and violence against humans in the June 13 article ``Warning signs.'' He even traced this phenomenon back to the 19th century.
However, this fact of life was well-documented 3,000 years ago by King Solomon in Proverbs 12:10 (NIV) which states, ``A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.''
Anyone who would abuse an animal clearly has no regard for life, animal or human. As Jesus Christ stated 2,000 years ago, as recorded in Luke 6:45 (NIV), ``The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.''
Many people have hang-ups about reading the Bible, thinking it ancient or outdated. While styles and customs are constantly changing, human nature never changes, and people have used their Bibles for thousands of years to obtain the guidance they need to conduct their lives. Our society would improve greatly if more of us would do likewise.
