The poor and homeless are fortunate to have Brenda McCormick as their outspoken advocate.
I have known Brenda for 25 years and know no one more articulate, caring, compassionate and dedicated to the needs of the less fortunate. One of the most capable and talented of God's children, Brenda devotes her entire life to serve the poor and misfortunate.
I share her outrage about summer tuition fees. For nine years on the Virginia Beach School Board I heard members proclaim loudly that children always come first in their priorities. I hope that present members understand that performance is judged on actions, not words.
We, as well as the poor and homeless, should be grateful for Brenda's strong advocacy. Obviously the School Board would have ignored the plight of many children this summer without Brenda's outcry.
My wife, Barbara, joins me in saying, ``Thanks again, Brenda.''
