Stella Norris Balchunis, 72, of the 600 block of Pleasant Hall Drive, died July 9, 1995, in her residence in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Balchunis was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and was a homemaker. She was a member of Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel, Virginia Beach. She was a graduate of Vineland High School in Vineland, N.J. She also was a volunteer at Boone Clinic at the Little Creek Amphibious Base and Virginia Beach Municipal Center, Personnel Office. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Norris.
Survivors include husband, John Walter Balchunis; three sons, John B. Balchunis of Aurora, Colo., Robert J. Balchunis of St. Paul, Minn., and James J. Balchunis of Virginia Beach; sister, Josephine Kilian of Philadelphia; and two grandchildren, Michael J. and Jennifer D. Balchunis of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The graveside service will be Thursday, July 13, 1995, at 1 p.m. in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel in charge. The family will be at the funeral home for prayers and visitation Wednesday night from 7 to 8 p.m. The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to American Cancer Society.
