GEORGE TRYON

George Sidney Leamon Tryon, 75, of Martha St., died Saturday, July 8, 1995, in Westminister-Canterbury of Lynchburg. He was the widower of Gennetta Livingston Tryon.

Mr. Tryon was born in Dunville, London, Ontario, Canada, June 27, 1920, a son of the late James and Ethel Fortman Tryon. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Royal Canadian Army and was retired from the Champale Corporation. George was a man who loved people, especially children. While living in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach he dressed up on special occasions, bringing happiness to all those who came in contact with him. On the Fourth of July he was Uncle Sam; on Easter, the Easter Bunny. He had many outfits portraying many different characters. The reason he did this, in his words: ``I love to see people smile.''

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Leanne and Jeffery Williams; his grandson, Zacharia, all of Appomattox; a brother, Stanley Tryon of Ontario; and his step-brother, Ted Fortman of Illinois. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Baughman and a brother, James Tryon.

A visitation will begin Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Robinson Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. conducted by Thomas W. Chalfant. The family suggests memorials be made to Patrick Henry Boys & Girls Plantation, Rt. 2, Brookneal, Va. 24528.
