Nellie Kate Swain, of Carver Circle, a retired machine operator, died July 11, 1995 at Naval Regional Medical Center, Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
Mrs. Swain was born in Temple, Ga. She retired from Georgia-Pacific Company and was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church and its senior choir and missionary board.
Survivors include her husband, Mack Swain; a daughter, Erma Jean Landy of Portsmouth; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Howard Boyd and Haywood Boyd and is survived by a cousin, Doris Burch of Atlanta, Ga.; and other cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. The family will be at 79 and 83 Carver Circle, Portsmouth.
