Wesley E. Hughes Sr., 75, died July 11, 1995, in Leonardstown, Md.
Mr. Hughes was born in Norfolk. He retired from the Virginia National Guard as a major and also retired from C&P Telephone. He was a Methodist, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Elizabeth Masonic Lodge (NU)34 AF/AM and the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a 1940 graduate of Maury High School.
Survivors include a son, Wesley E. and his wife Eileen P. Hughes Jr. of La Plata, Md.; a brother, George S. Hughes of Norfolk;. and two grandchildren, Lisa V. Hughes and Steven J. Hughes, both of La Plata, Md.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Morris Bennett where masonic rites will be accorded. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society National, Hampton Roads Chapter, 405 S. Parliament Drive, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462.
