Bennett's Creek Little League crowned two champions at the recent District VI 9- and 10-year-old baseball and softball tournaments at the B.C.L.L. complex behind Driver Elementary.
The Bennett's Creek girls won the softball tournament with a 12-2 win over Olive Branch, while the boys stopped Churchland, 8-6, in the baseball competition.
Both teams advance to sectional competition this weekend. The girls will play Sunday at 4 p.m. in Portsmouth and the boys will play Friday at 10 a.m. at Phoebus in Hampton.
Bennett's Creek softball team members are Jamie Pender, April Taylor, Megan Belch, Lisa Talley, Ashley Poe, Abbey Eberwine, Tara Williams, Jennifer Huband, Jenni Wallace, Heather Riley, Allison Mowry and Jessica Stauty. Todd Riley and Karl Stauty are the softball coaches.
Bennett's Creek American team members are Travis Gilbert, Taylor South, Jonathan Bagley, Michael Cosby, Jeremy Carpenter, Charles Hardie, Brian Hollowell, Matt Balsor, Joseph Hinton, Douglas Black, Jeffrey Phelps, Casey Watson, Suvious Bland and Erik Spencer.
