Jesse A. James, 88, of 2212 Scallop Road, died July 11, 1995.
He was a native of Conway, S.C., and was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach. He was the widower of Janie D. James. He was also the retired owner and operator of a tea shop on Wall Street in New York City and was retired after 25 years of service from Mary Jane Bakery as a baker.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Betty J. and James A. Fullerton of Virginia Beach; his sister and brother-in-law, Kate and Wilbert Saunders of Columbia, S.C.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Betty Knapp of Florence, S.C., Leroy and Norma James of Virginia Beach, and Carl and Pauline Knapp of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted, at the request of Mr. James, at 1 p.m. Friday in Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Jospeh E. French. The family will greet friends at the residence following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, 1871 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23454. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
