Bessie S. Smith, 91, of Dowdy's Bay Road, died Tuesday, July 11, 1995.
Mrs. Smith was born in Currituck County. A homemaker, she was a member of Poplar Branch Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Charles Lee Smith.
Surviving are one daughter, Thetis S. Wheatley of Grandy; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in New Hollywood Cemetery, Elizabeth City, by the Rev. Frank Lorenz. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the home of her daughter, (NU) 19 Dowdy's Bay Road, Grandy.
