Charlie Carroll Hofler, 78, of Orchard Steet, died Tuesday, July 11, 1995, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk.
Mr. Hofler was born in Gates County. The son of the late Charlie and Mrs. Cora Rice Hofler, he was the retired superintendent of roads in Gates County for the N.C. Department of Transportation. He was a member of Damascus Christian Church, the Men's Bible Class, and had served as a deacon. A member of the Sunbury Ruritan Club, he had formerly been a member of the Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel Stallings Hofler; one daughter, Betty H. Watson of Whiteville, N.C.; one son, James C. Hofler of Newport News, Va.; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in Damascus Christian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Riddick Pearce. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence.
