THREE-TIME Southeastern District champion Frankie Graves was named most outstanding tennis player and state 300-meter hurdles champion Tony Smith earned MVP honors for boys track at the annual Western Branch High School spring sports awards ceremony.
Graves, who will attend the Naval Academy, also won the district doubles title with partner Steve Gilchrist, who was named most improved on the tennis team.
Four Lady Bruins shared outstanding player honors for Western Branch - Sarah Wolf and Jaci Morris, both All-Tidewater selections, and Calle Morris and Nicole Belote.
Daniel Dussia, an All-District pick, was named MVP for boys soccer. All-District selections Mimi Knoop (offense) and Mackenzie Martin (defense) shared most valuable distinction for girls soccer.
Senior Meredith Turnage, who will be attending North Carolina State on scholarship in the fall, was named the outstanding runner for the girls track team.

Tennis: Brian Schollhammer (most valuable), Skip Williams (most valuable).
Girls soccer: Carolyn Bush (most valuable), Katie MacPhail (most improved).
Boys soccer: David Early (most improved), Steve Collett (best defense), Israel Macias (best offense).
Girls track: Dionne Dunston (most valuable), Erica Hudson (outstanding field events), Tanisha Johnson (coach's award).
Boys track: Donald Taylor (outstanding runner), Clayton Porter (outstanding field events), Darone Watson (leadership award).
