Gertrude L. Evans, 82, of the 5300 block of Marian Lane, died July 12, 1995, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.
Gertrude, a life-long resident of Virginia Beach, was an extremely devoted Catholic and a member of Star of The Sea Catholic Church in Virginia Beach.
Her love, direction, and unselfish generosity will be sincerely missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Preceded in death by her only daughter, Anna Marie Whitley, she is survived by her loving husband of over fifty years, Charles C. Evans of Virginia Beach; her brother, Joseph F. Benkert of Virginia Beach; her son-in-law, Woodrow W. Whitley of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Marie E. McConnell of Abingdon, Va.; Woodrow W. Whitley Jr., C. David Whitley, Laura K. Heartwell and Paul C. Whitley, all of Virginia Beach; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday July 15, 1995 at Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Burial will be at Princess Anne Memorial Park.
A Christian Wake service will be held tonight at 7 p.m. in the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at 729 - 12th Street, Virginia Beach, Va. 23451. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad ``Building Fund'', P.O. Box 945, Virginia Beach, Va. 23451.
