Gertrude ``Gertie'' Harris, 73, of the 8700 block of Meadowbrook Lane, died July 13, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mrs. Harris was born in Burlington, N.C., and was retired from both the VA Transit, and Summit Sales. She was a member of Ocean View Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Edmond W. Harris Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia M. and George Hewitt Jr. of Norfolk and Sandra H. and Arthur Urbanyi of Chesapeake; three sisters, Georgia Sharpe and Dorothy Gentry, both of North Carolina, and Mildred Zimmerman of Florida; two brothers, Lewis Kernodle and Clarence Kernodle, both of North Carolina; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday by Dr. James Carriker in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ocean View Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 9200 Tidewater Dr., Norfolk, Va. 23503.
