Mack Neal Simmons Sr., 68, of ``The Meadows'' Retirement Community, died July 12, 1995, in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mr. Simmons was a retired disabled veteran of the U.S. Army WWII. He was born in Old Norfolk County, and was the widower of Janie Baker Simmons. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW Post (NU)1264, and D.A.V. Chapter (NU)22.
He is survived by his two daughters, Pennie L. Simmons of Chesapeake, and Mary Lou Powers and son-in-law Ralph L. Powers, both of Chesapeake; two sons, Mack N. Simmons and daughter-in-law Kathryn F. Simmons, both of Norfolk, and Henry E. Wynn and daughter-in-law, Joan Wynn, both of Norfolk; one sister, Bettie V. Campbell and brother-in-law Archie L. Campbell, both of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a beloved niece, Joyce Olah of Chesapeake.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday by Brother Don Olsen, a Brethren of the Gospel Hall. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter (NU)22.
