SIX YEARS IN PRISON

A teenager convicted of accidentally shooting his cousin was sentenced Thursday to six years in prison.

Shelton Ellis, 19, was found guilty April 17 of involuntary manslaughter in the 1994 slaying of his 17-year-old cousin, Thomas N. Ellis.

Last August, Thomas Ellis was shot once in the head and died a short time later in a hospital. Police said they believed the shooting was accidental.

Shelton Ellis lived in an apartment across from where the victim was killed in the 1200 block of Norview Ave., court records show.
