United Steelworkers of America members at Newport News Shipbuilding lost a round in a labor dispute. The National Labor Relations Board dismissed a 3-year-old complaint that supervisors worked in the machine shop against union rules. Union member Jeff Thompson, who filed the complaint on behalf of about 25 workers, said he will appeal. Thompson's complaint contended the union failed to pursue his charge that the shipyard violated its labor pact. The NLRB said evidence was insufficient. (Associated Press) by CNB
