AMANDA J. ELLIOTT

Amanda J. Elliott, 83, of the 700 block of Harway Ave., died July 17, 1995, in a Chesapeake hospital.

She was born in Cerro Grodo, N.C., and was the widow of Buren D. Elliott. She was a member of Laurel Avenue Church of Christ, where she was involved in the Ladies Council of Laurel Avenue Church of Christ and The Willing Worker Class. She was also a member of the Senior Square Dancers, Saints Alive Singing Club, V.F.W. Ladies Auxilliary of South Norfolk, I.B.E.W. Ladies Auxilliary Local (NU)80, and Indian River Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her two sons, C.E. Jordan of Burleson, Texas, and Jim Jordan of Trevilians, Texas; three sisters, Esta Mae McDuffie of Winston-Salem, N.C., Kate Horne of Whiteville, N.C., and Dinah Powell of Clarkton, N.C; one brother, H.C. Edwards of Clarkton, N.C.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday by Rev. Mike Yates in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Laurel Avenue Church of Christ, in her name.
