FRANCES K. WORRELL

Frances K. Worrell, 72, of Sandbridge in Virginia Beach died July 17, 1995.

She was born in South Norfolk, now Chesapeake, and was the widow of Julian H. Worrell.

Her professional career spanned four decades and included service as Executive Director of South Norfolk's Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Urban Renewal Director of Conservation for Portsmouth's Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Finance Director and Director of Administrative Services for Hampton's Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Community Development Coordinator, Assistant Director of Development, and Acting Contract Administrator for the City of Newport News and Community Development Specialist for James City County.

She was a past member of the Tidewater Board of Realtors, the Board of Directors of the Newport News Office of Human Affairs, member of the National Housing Conference, National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, and National Association of Female Executives.

Mrs. Worrell is survived by a sister, Betty Ruth Lehr of Hampton, Virginia; a brother, Elvin Carden of South Chelmsford, Massachusetts; two sons, A. Michael Worrell and J. Hiter Worrell, both of Virginia Beach, and seven grandchildren: Cameron Worrell, Christina Worrell, Chessy Worrell, Catze Worrell, Chrisea Worrell, Barron Worrell, and Elizabeth Worrell.

She was preceded in death by a son, E. Christopher Worrell, grandson Jason Worrell and brother W.C. ``Kit'' Carden.

A Memorial Service will be conducted by the Reverend Edward S. Martin Jr. at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 21, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 6568 Indian River Road. The family will welcome friends at the home at 204 Molly Cooper Road in Sandbridge immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sandbridge Community Chapel of the United Methodist Church, 3041 Sandpiper Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23456.
