JOSEPH W. MCALLISTER

Joseph W. McAllister, 75, of the 300 block of Clearfield Ave., died Wednesday, July 19, 1995, at his residence.

Mr. McAllister was born in Richmond and was the son of the late Robert Linwood and Mary Anne Fuqua McAllister. He had retired from Berkley Machine Works in Norfolk after 44 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had served as a volunteer with Chesapeake General Hospital, the Norfolk County Fire Department, and the Chesapeake Sheriff's Posse.

Mr. McAllister was a member of Centerville Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Great Bridge Seniors and Past Commander of the American Legion, Post (NU)280, Chesapeake.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie May McAllister; two daughters; Nancy Diane Sykes of Culpeper, Va., and Nancy Christina Carruthers of Chesapeake; three sons, Joseph Lee McAllister of Chesapeake, Robert Linwood McAllister of Apex, N.C., and David Warren McAllister of Redwood City, Calif.; two sisters, Catherine Good of Jarrett, Va., and Edith D'Elia of Howell, N.J.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 1995, in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Danny Morris. The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
