HONORS

Jeffrey Phillips, senior patrol leader of Boy Scout Troop 48, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Phillips reconstructed the baseball dugouts of the Great Bridge Baseball Association's Bronco Field as his Eagle service project. He has earned 34 merit badges and has received the Arrow of Light in Cub Scouting, the Den Chief Service Award, the World Conservation award and BSA Snorkeling certification. Jeffery is the son on of Stan and Cathy Phillips of the 900 block of Marble Arch. Troop 48 is sponsored by Great Bridge United Methodist Church.

Food Lion supermarkets have given the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia $2,548.25 to assist in efforts to feed hungry families in Southeastern Virginia. The contribution is part of more than $102,600 collected by Food Lion as part of its annual Campaign Against Hunger.
