DO A GOOD TURN

I am at a stop sign. The driver in front of me has no turn signal flashing. This means he is going straight, right? No, he could be turning left, turning right or lost and wondering what to do. So I wait for the crossing traffic to thin. He turns right! Since I was going straight through, I could have pulled up on his left and used the same gap in traffic he found to cross. But now I have to wait.

You cannot go anywhere in Hampton Roads without encountering such thoughtlessness. Even police cruisers change lanes without using turn signals. Since the inspection system requires that turn signals be in good working order, it is the head, or heart, of the drivers which needs to be repaired.

Since there is no organized anti-turn-signal lobby, I have to assume these poeple are just not thinking. It really doesn't take much effort to use a turn signal!
