Geoffrey Kent Ferguson, the Powells Point man charged with killing five men in Connecticut, has been picked up by Connecticut state police, Currituck County Sheriff's officials said Thursday.
A request to delay a judge's order to return Ferguson to Connecticut was denied by the North Carolina Court of Appeals, said Susan Johnson, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.
Superior Court Judge William C. Griffin on Tuesday ordered Ferguson, 44, to be sent to Redding, Conn., to face charges that, on April 18, he shot to death five men in a house he owned and then set the house on fire.
Ferguson was arrested at his Currituck home on April 20.
