WOMAN'S BODY IDENTIFIED

A woman whose body was found floating in a Virginia lake last weekend was identified Friday, and authorities said a murder warrant was sent to Florida charging a restaurant cook with the slaying.

The victim, April L. Brown, 23, of Newport News, was identified through family members and medical records, said Sgt. Donnie Moore, a Hampton police spokesman. Moore said the cause of death has not been determined.

The suspect in her death, Christopher Dozier, 23, of Hampton, was arrested Tuesday night near Jacksonville, Fla., after a multi-state crime spree that ended in a 25-mile, 100 mph chase.

During the pursuit, Dozier allegedly lighted and threw bottles of gasoline at deputies.

On the trip to Florida, Dozier is suspected of several carjackings and assaults in North Carolina.
