CITY COUNCIL ACTIONS

The Chesapeake City Council took the following actions at its meeting on July 18. The council meets the second, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. An ordinance to allow the expansion of nonconforming single-family dwellings under certain conditions. Denied, 9-0.

An ordinance to allow temporary produce stands to sell produce grown elsewhere when local crops fail. Approved, 9-0.

An ordinance to allow certain commercial, office and industrial uses in the M-1, M-2 and M-3 Zoning Districts. Approved, 9-0.

A zoning reclassification from B-5 Central Business District to M-1 Light Industrial District for an existing seafood warehouse storage and packaging operation at 1011, 1015 and 1019 Chesapeake Ave. Denied, 8-1. (Allen voted yes).

A request by the Girl Scout Council of the Colonial Coast for a conventional zoning reclassification from R-l0s Residential District to C-2 Conservation-Recreation District on Bells Mill Road. Approved, 8-0. (Duda, excused).

A request by the Girl Scout Council of the Colonial Coast for a conditional-use permit for four wooden picnic shelters, two observation towers and an enclosed swimming pool. Approved 8-0. (Duda, excused).

A request by River Walk Development for a modification of its land-use plan for 6.784 acres located on Great Bridge Boulevard. Approved 7-1 (de Triquet voted against, Duda was excused).

A request by Stonebridge Landing PUD for a modification of its land-use plan to permit 12 additional dwelling units. Continued for 60 days, 8-0 (Duda excused).

A request by Churchland Dialysis for a zoning reclassification from B-1 Neighborhood Business District to O & I Office and Institutional District in the 3200 block of Churchland Boulevard. Approved, 7-0. (Duda excused, Ward out of chambers).
