GEORGE H. MCCLELLAND

George H. McClelland, 70, of the 8400 block of Portal Road, died Friday, July 21, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.

He was born in Shelburn, IN, and was the son of Mary Catherine McClelland of Rochester Hills, MI and the late Raymond McClelland. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service, and also retired from Civil Service as a Communication Specialist.

Mr. McClelland was a former Captain in the Virginia Defense Force. He was a member of the Khedive Temple and was past Director of the Drum and Bugle Corp; Scottish Rite Bodies; Ocean View Masonic Lodge (NU)335. Also a member of the Tidewater Radio Convention, Inc.; the Tail Gate Flea Market Director; Virginia Beach Radio Club; Norfolk Amateur Radio Emergency Service; the State Amateur Radio Emergency Service; the Amateur Radio UFO Group; the Tidewater Solid State Amateur Radio Club; the Military Affiliated Radio Service for over 30 years. His call sign was WA4RPU.

Survivors include his wife, Claire M. McClelland of Norfolk; a daughter, Mary Ann Fisher of Chesapeake; a son, George H. McClelland Jr. of Virginia Beach; and two sisters, Mary Ann Newton of Rochester Hills, MI, and Marlene J. Christie of Plymouth, MI.

A funeral service will be held Monday, July 24, 1995, at 10:00 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Tidewater Drive Chapel where Masonic Rites will be accorded. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The family will be at the funeral home to receive friends Sunday, July 23, 1995, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital.
