Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases:
VIRGINIA BEACH
Two men were beaten and robbed in separate incidents at the beachfront.
On Tuesday, May 23, about 2:30 a.m., a 25-year-old man was walking to his car on Shoreham Court near 19th Street. He was approached from behind by four men. One struck him in the face and took the bag he was carrying.
A few minutes later, a 28-year-old man was attacked on 22nd Street near Parks Avenue. He was struck in the head with a bottle several times and robbed of $9.
Police are looking for four or five black men, in their late teens or early 20s, who were seen leaving both attacks in a white or light gray Ford Tempo or Mercury Topaz.

CHESAPEAKE
On the morning of July 8, a robber entered the 7-Eleven store at 1420 S. Military Highway. He asked for change and then left.
He returned a short time later. This time he robbed the store clerk, indicating he had a gun in his pocket.
The suspect was videotaped by a store security camera.
He is described as white, about 25, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin build and long blond hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a striped shirt.
PORTSMOUTH
On Tuesday, July 4, about 6 p.m., Robert H. Fayton, a 33-year-old Virginia Beach man, was in his van in a parking lot in the 3500 block of Towne Point Road when he was approached by two men.
One of the men had a gun and shot Fayton in his right side. Fayton was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he died.
Police are looking for two suspects, both described as young and black, who were seen at the van at the time of the shooting. They may go by the names of ``Nukie'' and ``Rough House.''
SUFFOLK
On July 14, 74-year-old Thomas Claiborne of the 400 block of Cullodan St. was struck and killed by a vehicle.
Claiborne was walking near the Holiday Inn on Virginia Route 460 the night he was hit.
His body was found in a grassy area across from Starr Motors Auto Sales and Guardian Care Nursing Home.
The vehicle involved may have damage to the right front and could be partially grayish or silver in color. ILLUSTRATION: Drawing
