MEDIA

Landmark Communications Inc. has promoted Executive Vice President Kevin D. Senie to president and chief executive officer of Travel Channel Networks. Prior to joining Landmark in 1992, Senie held senior financial management positions with Time Warner Inc., most recently as vice president, finance, for Time Publishing Ventures. As executive vice president for Landmark Communications, Senie has been instrumental in creating the initial brand positioning for The Travel Channel in Europe, developing The Travel Channel Online Network and in designing the concept and strategy for the channel's recent expansion into the Latin American market. The president and chief executive officer of the Travel Channel Networks is a new position. Senie will move to The Travel Channel headquarters in Atlanta.

Doug Symons has been appointed as vice president of marketing for International Family Entertainment. Symons is based in Virginia Beach. Most recently, Symons was senior vice president-management supervisor for Bozell Worldwide in Southfield, Mich.

ACCOUNTING

The firm of Eason, Lawson & Westphal, certified public accountants and consultants, has promoted Lisa A. Prouty and D. Bruce Dodson Jr. to senior accountants. Prouty, who joined the firm in 1992, worked in the accounting and auditing areas of governmental, non-profit agencies and hotel and restaurant corporations. Dodson, who has been with the firm for two years, has been involved in the areas of governmental, non-profit and credit union audits.

Also, Virginia G. Shield has joined Eason, Lawson & Westphal in Chesapeake as a senior accountant. She was previously employed by Price Waterhouse.

John D. Gourley was promoted from business assurance associate to senior associate at Coopers & Lybrand, an accounting firm in Norfolk.

ADVERTISING

Shelly Gareiss has been promoted to production manager at Ad Ventures Advertising Inc. Gareiss, who has been with the advertising firm since 1988, was previously a graphic designer and mechanical artist.

ARCHITECTURE

Michael P. Molzahn has been appointed to a project architect with HBA Architecture & Interior Design in Virginia Beach. Prior to joining HBA, Molzahn was a project manager with CMSS Architects in Virginia Beach.

Also, R. Kevin Hamlett has been appointed to staff architect with HBA Architecture & Interior Design. Hamlett served as an architectural intern with HBA during college and is now participating in the intern development program.

Donald R. Hirtz will serve as a project architect with CMSS Architects in Virginia Beach. Hirtz was former president of Architecture-D.R. Hirtz & Associates in Chesapeake.

BANKING

Fonda D. Menzelhas been elected to vice president at Central Fidelity National Bank. Most recently, Menzel worked as senior manager of mortgage production for the mortgage division in the Eastern region. Previously, she served as senior loan underwriter with Ameribanc Mortgage Corp.

Edward E. Cunningham, president and chief executive officer of Life Savings Bank, has been elected chairman of the savings bank council of the Virginia Bankers Association. Cunningham has been with Life Savings 37 years. He was also elected to the Virginia Bankers Association board of directors and is a member of the executive committee.

Selden P. Richards is the new vice president for business and professional banking at Virginia Beach Federal Savings Bank. Previously, she served as assistant vice president for commercial lending at Franklin National Bank in Washington, D.C.

COMMUNICATIONS

Paul Buchheim was promoted to senior vice president and general manager of Pinnacle Online, a leading Internet solutions provider in Virginia Beach. Previously, Buchheim was employed as the contracts administrator for Johnson Control Computer Systems in Virginia Beach.

HEALTH CARE

Bradford M. Casas has been named chairman of the Chesapeake Hospital Authority. Casas is employed as senior manager of the executive support staff at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

LAW

The firm of Cox and Cox in Virginia Beach has appointed John A. Coggeshall as an associate of the firm. Coggeshall is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem and read law with the firm under Virginia's study under an attorney program. He has worked in the Hampton Roads area as entertainer John Cog for the past 20 years.

MUSEUM

Pam Malonson has been named visitor services supervisor at Jamestown Settlement, a museum of 17th-century colonial Virginia. For the past four years, Malonson was general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Williamsburg.

REAL ESTATE

Hubert H. Young III has joined Young Properties in Suffolk as vice-president. Young is a May, 1995 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College.

Correction: Dr. Frank A. Downing Jr. has been in private practice since 1983. His length of practice was listed incorrectly last week. MEMO: Career Track reports upper-level executive and management changes.
