ALICE E. AUSTIN

Alice E. Austin, 62, of the 400 block of Resort Court, a retired avionics technician, died July 21, 1995, in her residence.

Mrs. Austin was born in Norfolk. She had retired from Norfolk Naval Air Station after 26 years. She was a member of New Testament Church of Portsmouth and was president of the Usher Board.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Herman and Yvonne D. Carrington and Beverly A. Sain, all of Portsmouth; a son, J. Richard Perkins of Baltimore, Md.; her mother, Sarah E. Coleman of Portsmouth; her father, Odell L. Ming Sr. of Portsmouth; two sisters, Evangelia Winston of Portsmouth and Helena Anderson of Chesapeake; three brothers, Alton Ming of Philadelphia, Pa., Odell L. Ming Jr. of Portsmouth and Robert H. Ming of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren; her stepfather, George Coleman of Portsmouth; an aunt, Shirley A. Madison of Norfolk; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in New Testament Church of Portsmouth by Elder Charles Bowen II. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, today from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will assemble at the funeral home Tuesday at noon for the processional to the church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
